I always give 50 claps on Medium. Why? Because it’s hard to write. There are days when I spend four or more hours on a single post. I want to give the writer encouragement for just showing up, for taking the time to write 1,000+ or so words, for finding a good photo, for great formatting, for producing an article for Pete’s sake. I am especially kind for the free articles.

I received ONE clap after pouring my heart out on Medium about my husband moving out of our house. Seeing one clap is worse than no claps, believe me. It almost makes me want to give up right when I just got back on that horse.

I’m probably fussier with the paid articles, though, and will use your guidelines for them.

I love your guidelines for Amazon and Goodreads — I never leave a bad review unless the book or product is truly terrible and even then, I might not waste my time.
