I had Hashimotos years before anyone diagnosed me. It was so frustrating to feel so exhausted all the time and get absolutely no diagnosis despite seeing so many doctors and specialists. At some point, I thought, “Well, I guess this is my life now.”

Finally, I made an appointment to see a functional health practitioner because I thought maybe my food intake needed adjusting since I was gaining weight like nobody’s business even while on a diet!

It was the functional health practitioner who found my Hashimotos by looking at my test results closely — apparently far more closely than any doctor. So, I had a diagnosis but I needed a doctor to write the Rx.

After my visit with the functional health practitioner, I had an appointment with my Ob/Gyn for some reason and had to follow up with her a week later for test results. During that one week, I had gained 10 pounds. Finally, the Ob/gyn could not ignore what I had told her the functional health person had said and what she was seeing on the scale. She ordered the tests and sure enough, I had full blown Hashimotos.

Although you’d think that I’d be elated to finally get a diagnosis, I would spend another couple years with the wrong medication for me so my symptoms weren’t all the way gone but I was finally able to lose 2 lbs per week on a diet.

Finally, one of my friends recommended an endocrinologist who actually listened to me. He looked at the dosage of my medication and said, “This is enough thyroid hormone for a 300 pound woman!” Indeed, I was not 300 pounds. He wondered about changing my medication — would I feel any better. He decided we would give the other medication a shot.

Two weeks into the new medication, I woke up, walked downstairs to make coffee, started cleaning up the kitchen, put in a load of laundry, and opened the refrigerator to begin making breakfast for the family and it dawned on me, “I’M AWAKE AND NOT ALREADY EXHAUSTED!!!” The new medication was a miracle. I take it every single day and thank God every day that I persisted in finding what would help me feel normal again.

Far more interesting internally than externally. I write to quiet the voices. Deleted Facebook & Twitter thereby immediately quieting 1000’s of voices.
