My first job interview after achieving my BS degree in Communications “late in life,” I started with one woman, then advanced to two women, and then I was marched into a conference room with 10 people.
I was asked a question by the President of the alternative school I was interviewing at. I gave him an intelligent response. I believe he asked me how I would get more students to join the school.
I laid out a beautiful reply; however, apparently he didn’t think so. Mid-response, I got up from his seat, thanked me for my time and walked out. I was mortified. I don’t think I’ve ever been more humiliated. I think the others in attendance were also somewhat shocked.
I’m glad I didn’t get the job. In hindsight, I imagine working there would have been very stressful dealing with such a volatile owner.
