Until yesterday I had never heard of Diego Maradona. Of course since I don't follow any sports, it's probably not a surprise I'd never heard of him.

It is truly sad when a star athlete or an actor who becomes well-known, gets caught up in all the things stardom offers, only to suffer the ultimate consequence of having too many choices for chemical self-soothing.

Sometimes it's easy to look at a star athlete and say "if I were that famous and talented, I'd never end up where he/she did," but since you and I are forever on the sidelines, we will probably never know how we'd survive as a celebrity, especially nowadays with the never ending news cycle. Forget only having professional paparazzi on your tail telling your tale every day, but with the addition of smart phones, everyone you come into contact with has the potential to post to a worldwide audience. Everyone in the world is paparazzi.

Thank you for educating me on Diego Maradona, and may he rest peacefully.

Far more interesting internally than externally. I write to quiet the voices. Deleted Facebook & Twitter thereby immediately quieting 1000’s of voices.
